May 2011, Scana Marine Service entered into an agency agreement with Offshore Reparos Navais LTDA on service and retrofit of propulsion systems.
The agreement entitles Offshore Reparos, a Brazilian company with offices in Rio de Janerio and Nitero, to act on behalf of Scana Marine Service as a service and aftermarket agent, both on aftermarket sales and specific service projects.
“This partnership enables Scana Marine Service and Offshore Reparos to deliver turn-key solutions to the customer, including technical expertise, engineering, complete propulsion packages, installation and commissioning”, says Hallvard Pettersen, head of Scana Marine Service. “To the operators of the various vessels in the Brazilian market this means Scana service representatives are available locally on short notice, and thereby reduce down-time and off-hire to an absolute minimum”, Mr Pettersen continues.
Offshore Reparos is the preferred service supplier for the majority of Scana Marine Service Brazilian customers and has been regularly audited by Det Norske Veritas (DNV) since 1999 to maintain its ISO 9001 quality certificate.
The relationship between Scana and Offshore Reparos goes back to 2005. “We are glad to formalize this relationship, enabling us to strengthen our position within the high tier of the offshore market through the Scana Propulsion brand”, says Mr. Falke Döring.
Offshore Reparos is primarily a service company that carries out naval and industrial repairs and maintenance services, specialising in propulsion machinery and associated equipment. The company considers its dedicated and experienced personnel as the company’s most important asset. There high focus on safety, together with the quality of the services rendered, has constituted the basis of the company since it was founded in 1981.
Offshore Reparos is known for investing heavily in technology in order to provide services to the wide range of sophisticated systems that are in the Brazilian market today. “We know that this partnership will be welcomed by our customers as a cost-effective approach in meeting the service demand in Brazil. I hereby wish to welcome Offshore Reparos Navais LTDA into the Scana world-wide service team, and look forward to a long and productive relationship”, Hallvard Pettersen concludes.
