The oil distribution system, pitch setting servomotor, the thrust bearing and the multiplate disc clutch are integrated in the reduction gear box. The pitch setting servomotor is connected with the pitch changing mechanism in the propeller hub with the use of a pull - push rod located in the axial hole of the propeller shaft.
The propeller shaft has got a flange for fitting the propeller hub. The propeller shaft is fitted with the use of a clamp or a shrink type coupling. The oil pump suspended on the gear box driven from the inlet shaft ensures appropriate amounts of oil for the servomotor and lubricating systems.
A stand-by oil pump is free-standing and driven by an electrical motor. The internal hub mechanism is lubricated with the oil from the sterntube bearings lubricating system. In the case of water lubrication of sterntube bearings special solutions for lubricating the hub internal mechanism are used. An emergency propeller pitch setting makes it possible to block the pitch in the forward position and to operate the propeller system as if it was with a fixed pitch propeller. |
