The oil distribution box is fitted on the front wall of the gearbox. The pitch changing servomotor bolted to the back end of the output shaft changes the position of the pitch changing mechanism in the propeller hub by the pull - push rod located in the axial hole of the propeller shaft. The propeller shaft has got a flange for fitting the propeller hub.
The propeller shaft is connected with the servomotor by a shrink type coupling. The internal hub mechanism is lubricated with the oil from the sterntube bearings lubricating system. In the case of water lubrication of stertube bearings special solutions for lubricating the hub internal mechanism are used. In the hydraulic system there are two pumps (including a stand-by one) driven by electrical motors.
If required, one of the pumps can be fitted on the gear. An emergency propeller pitch setting makes it possible to block the pitch in the forward position and to operate the propeller system as if it was with a fixed pitch propeller.
