Tunnel Thrusters

Scana Zamech provides a complete range of tunnel thruster propulsion solutions for all sizes of sea-going vessels. Products and systems are based on Scana's technology, unique material knowledge and extensive production experience.

Tunnel Thrusters with a power range from 100 kW  to 3500 kW  are optimized to meet individual requirements determined by the operational requirements of the vessel.

The family of thrusters CPT and FPT has been designed in order to achieve maximum thrust for a specific propeller diameter and guarantee maximum efficiency.

		CPT Tunnel Thrusters Are equipped with controllable pitch propellers. The torque of the propulsion motor is transmitted by an elastic coupling and bevel-gear to the shaft on which the hub of the propeller is mounted.
		FTP Tunnel Thrusters Are equipped with fixed pitch propellers. The change of direction of the thrust is obtained by a change of rotation direction  in the propulsion motor.

The main advantages of our thrusters:

• the thruster design is compact, the reduced length of thrusters allows the mounting of thrusters in narrow areas of the vessel's hull
• a special blade design to avoid cavitation phenomena and reduce noise and vibration
• the thruster shaft and thruster pinion are seated on high quality roller bearings for a long lifetime
• the application of high quality Cyclo-Palloid bevel gears which are made using the HPG   method
• the application of high quality shaft seals guarantee protection for the thruster's internal mechanisms, protect from oil leakage which makes the thruster environmentally friendly
• extra solutions for extension of sealing duration, sealing  monitoring, noise and vibration reduction are applied
• the hub design facilitates easy blade disassembly in a horizontal position
• in specific conditions replacement of a blade underwater or a trimmed vessel without the necessity to empty oil from the thruster is possible
• in all thruster hydraulic systems the same type of oil is used
