Scana Subsea is a newly formed company that delivers subsea and riser applications to the oil and gas industry. The company will make the most of Scana’s strong position in the field of steel making and hot forming of long and heavy sizes.

The company works with sales, contract management and product development. All manufacture is done by the steel
producing companies within the Scana group, together with established partners and vendors for services outside the group.

Market and customers

Scana Subsea exports 100 % of its turnover. Customers range from oil companies to system/product suppliers
globally, with USA representing the largest market. The North Sea, Brazil and South East Asia are also important areas.

The riser products will be particularly important in 2010. A forecasted increase in demand for this product, gives
a potential for growth. Also, the company can utilise production capacity in the supply chain in times of relatively
low production. This provides access to a number of smaller and shorter projects.

The new profile and changed company structure for these products, in addition to our customised administrative tools
for handling large volumes, makes for a potential for more efficient project management and administration. The effect
of these improvements will start showing mid 2010.

Products and services

The company’s main products are forged, rotation symmetrical, long and thin components with a high technical
content for the oil and gas industry in riser and tendon applications. Other shapes, with forging as a base for subsea
applications, are under development. Material engineering and metallurgical competence is also added to the product portfolio.

The company’s products are often key components for the customers. Scana Subsea supplies components with different
degrees of completion, depending on the customers’ requirements. The company emphasises research and
development to further strengthen the quality of its products and has an ongoing cooperation with research
institutes in Sweden.
