Melt Shop

Our in-house melt shop supplies the foundry with the pouring of cast and ingots for further treatment in our forge shop.  Some ingots are also directly delivered to the customer.  Our steelworks is well-known for it's ability to manufacture a wide range of high quality stainless and structural steels.  '

Our melt shop is scrap based with two herault electric arc furnaces for melting and one AOD converter for refining.

Max. capacity:                   25,000 tonnes/year

Ingot weight:                     0,65 - 12,2 tonnes

Melting capacity:              6 - 15 tonnes/charge

Refining capacity:           10 - 17 tonnes/charge

Forge Shop

The raw material in the forge shop comes in form of ingots from our own melt shop and from other sources for contract forging.  The ingots are heated up  to forging temperature in the gas fired furnaces.  The furnace temperature is controlled, monitored and linked to the computer system in the forging press.  Normal forging termp. is 1150-1250°C.

We open die forge square, flat, round and hollow bars and shafts in a hydraulic forging press with a maximum pressure of 1,600 tonnes and a manually operated manipulator.  The ginding, sawing, heat treatment and NDT is taking place in the vicinity of the forging press.

Max. capacity:                      10,000 tonnes/year

Max. ingot weight:               6,2 tonnes

Max width:                            600 mm

Max. square/diameter:       450 mm

Max. length:                          7,000 mm

Foundry

Our foundry produce its high quality products and it's ability to produce complex casted products with a wide range of stainless and structural steel grades. This steel requires a high level competence throughout the manufacturing process.  It is to our advantage that we have all the necessary process steps in-house.  This includes the casting method development and simulation, pattern shop, moulding, heat treatment, upgrading/welding, machining and NDT.  This allows us to have control over the entire production process from the melt and engineering to the finished product.

Max. capacity:                    8,000 tonnes/year

Patterns:                             Wood or plastic

Mould system:                   Chemical bounded Olivin sand and Sodium Silicate Ester

Unit weight:                        500 - 10,000 kg

Heat Treatment

We supply a great range of different stainless steel alloys.  Most of these alloy steels require very specific and carefully managed heat treatment in order to obtain the required quality and material structure.  Having extensive capacity for isothermal annealing, normalizing, stress relieving, hardening, quenching and tempering of steel products up to 7,2m in length and up to 10,000 kg of weight.  Polymer emulsion or water hardening is also available.
