Strategic position

Printer-friendly version

The trend in recent years has been that customers want fewer suppliers, and that these are capable of taking an overall responsibility for a number of disciplines. Customers want the supplier to have a clear responsibility for quality and timely deliveries, all through one point of contact. This has led to consolidation and merging of players in the supplier industry.

Through its own companies, Scana Oil and Gas has established an environment that is embedded in the entire value chain. This broad spectrum of expertise and overall focus on product life cycle – from design to operation and maintenance, will strengthen Scana’s competitive position.

In 2008, Scana, through acquisitions in Houston, established Scana Offshore Services. The company supplies engineering services, purchases and construction, in addition to project management of blowout preventer systems (BOP). The company delivers systems to several of the world’s largest drilling contractors and is a niche-supplier with substantial development potential.

Scana also has a service unit in Singapore, performing engineering services. In 2009, Scana established a business in Brazil to position sales towards large project developments the coming years. Through its offices, the Scana group can serve customers in all the market segments the group operates in (steel and machine, energy and marine).

Scana Offshore Services has provided Scana with an operative pier head in the important petroleum market in the Gulf of Mexico. Scana Offshore Services has in addition established an office in Singapore to serve the large construction and maintenance market in Southeast Asia.
