Scana Offshore Vestby designs and manufactures linear anchor winches to customer specifications. We have supplied winches for Ø76mm up to Ø142mm chain. All systems are approved by DNV, based on comprehensive test programs.
The winches are of the linear type. The locking of the chain is achieved by solid chain stoppers in the base of the unit. A backtensioning mechanism is placed on the winch to secure that the chain is tight during operation.
A jack called the lifting unit is a part of the winch. There is one lifting unit supplied for each LAW. Consequently it is possible to operate all the chains simultaneously. During tensioning the lifting unit grips over the chain, lifts it free from the chain lock, pulls the chain to required position and finally places the chain back into the lock.
Hydraulic cylinders are used for the locking and tensioning of the chain, The backtension wheel is run by a hydraulic motor. The winches are designed for local and remote operation. The winches are powered from deck equipment HPU. The system is controlled by a PLS, and can be operated from a control room or from a controlpanel at each winch.
