The Seadrill owned drill ship “West Navigator” had a yard stay at Vestbase in Kristiansund in November / December for classification works. As a part of this work, Scana got the assignment of changing the bearings in the Riser Tensioning system onboard. The job was done during a two-week period with continuous shifts, and was completed well within the time frame.
The SOV Service Team has performed a modification of FMC Kongsberg Subsea’s pressure chamber for testing of subsea components. The pressure chamber is approx. 2 meters in diameter.

Scana Offshore Vestby AS (SOV) has been awarded a contract for the machining of slewing bearing contact faces by Jotne Mekaniske Verksteder AS. The slewing bearing will be mounted in a structure with a diameter of approx. 14 meters, and it is therefore decided to use the SOV Mobile Milling- and Turning Machine.
Until now Riser repairs has been a time consuming operation with reduced possibilities of extended lifecycles. Now a new process has been developed for Workover Risers in a joint venture between FMC Kongsberg Subsea AS and Scana Offshore Vestby AS.
Monday before Easter, an urgent request for assistance was sent from Aker MH to Scana Offshore Vestby AS. A main shaft onboard Aker Barents was damaged, and the repair had to be done offshore. Operator, mobile turning unit and necessary equipment arrived onboard the next day, followed by a certified welder. The job was started directly, and by Easter Day, the shaft was repaired.
