Scana develops, manufactures and supplies controllable-pitch propellers, reduction gears, rudders, hydraulic actuators, and manoeuvring and control systems for both new and existing vessels.

The newest addition to the business area is Scana Zamech which designs, produces and installs tunnel thrusters, shafts and both fixed and manoeuvrable propellers for ships from approximately 1,000 tonnes and up to the largest types of ships. Scana Zamech’s products are complementary to an already wide range of products, and this enables Scana to deliver manoeuvring systems for all ship sizes. The acquisition provides a good foundation for further development of the propulsion area within Scana. Together with the existing gear- and propulsion technology from Scana Volda and remote control systems from Scana Mar-El, Scana now has a technological platform which gives a good foundation for further development, in line with tomorrows environmental and marketing demands. The acquisition also increases the level of activity within Scana’s service portfolio.
