The control system of a tunnel thruster with a controllable pitch propeller is destined for the remote propeller pitch control, for the remote control and supervision of the hydraulic system operation and remote control of thruster motor start up and supervision of driving system operation.
The system allows continuous, follow-up and remote pitch control of the propeller by means of a control lever on the selected control station on the bridge or in other places.
Main functions:
start up and stopping of a thruster using minimum input;
control of the tunnel thruster’s propeller pitch;
control transfer between control stations;
automatic motor overload control system;
monitoring and protection against high motor temperature;
control of hydraulic unit pump;
space heater control for the switchboard, for starting the autotransformer and the motor;
thruster compartment fan control;
test function for control system;
emergency stop.
The Scana Thruster Control System is able to interface all relevant applications, such as:
joystick;
dynamic positioning;
alarm systems;
voyage data recorder.
When there are more than one one tunnel thruster installed, the configuration of control panels is prepared according to the Customer’s requirements. Functionality of a system for Thruster with Fixed Pitch Propeller is similar to CPT.
